A Different World Valentine’s Dinner Gala 2025: Event Recap & Photo Gallery

On February 8, 2025, A Different World Services welcomed individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), their families, caregivers, staff, direct support professionals, community coaches, community leaders, advocates, and partners to The Marble Room in Mechanicsville, Virginia, for our Valentine’s Dinner Gala 2025.

While the evening was filled with great food, music, and celebration, its purpose reached far beyond hosting a special event. The gala reflected what A Different World Services believes at its core—that every individual deserves to feel included, valued, connected, and empowered to participate fully in community life.

For many of the individuals we serve, opportunities to attend formal community events, build new friendships, and celebrate alongside family members, professionals, and local leaders are meaningful experiences that promote confidence, belonging, and genuine human connection. Our Valentine’s Dinner Gala was created to provide exactly that: a welcoming space where everyone could enjoy an evening together without barriers, where every guest was celebrated for who they are.

Throughout the night, conversations were shared across tables, new friendships were formed, families connected with providers and community partners, and individuals enjoyed an evening of laughter, dancing, entertainment, and lasting memories. Moments like these remind us that true inclusion is built not only through services, but through relationships, shared experiences, and opportunities to participate in the community as equals.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was recognizing outstanding individuals and community leaders whose compassion, leadership, and dedication continue to make a positive impact throughout our community. By presenting these awards, we celebrated those who inspire others through service, advocacy, and a commitment to creating more inclusive communities. Their work reflects the same values that guide A Different World Services every day—that lasting change happens when organizations, families, professionals, advocates, and community members work together.

We were honored to have Micah “Bam-Bamm” White serve as the evening’s host. His warmth, humor, and genuine engagement created an atmosphere where every guest felt welcomed and celebrated.

We were also privileged to welcome The Honorable Levar M. Stoney as our guest speaker. His inspiring message highlighted the importance of inclusion, equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and continued awareness of mental health and the role that strong, connected communities play in supporting overall well-being.

The celebration continued with unforgettable live performances by JTucker & The Krewe, whose blend of Funk, Pop, R&B, Jazz, and soulful vocals brought incredible energy to the evening. DJ Just Different kept the celebration going, filling the dance floor with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments shared by individuals, families, staff, and community supporters alike.

This event reflects the vision of our founders, Jean M. Jeudi, Director of Operations, and Keats Alexander, Founder and Program Director. Their commitment has always extended beyond providing quality services. Together, they have worked to create opportunities where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are encouraged to build relationships, discover new experiences, participate in their communities, and live lives filled with dignity, purpose, and belonging.

At A Different World Services, we understand that meaningful community inclusion supports overall well-being. Feeling connected, accepted, and valued can have a lasting impact on quality of life for individuals with disabilities, their families, and the communities around them. Events like our Valentine’s Dinner Gala strengthen those connections by bringing together individuals receiving services, families, caregivers, professionals, advocates, elected leaders, and community partners in one shared space of celebration and respect.
